Elizabeth Kim is the current president of National Lawyers Guild Sacramento Chapter. She was first elected to the board in 2016 and has been a member and legal observer since 2011.
Elizabeth holds many roles in various areas of government. Elizabeth is a legal recruiting consultant at the California Department of Justice, a professor of social justice studies at American River College, and is also a political consultant and campaign manager. She is also a court translator in the administrative courts. |
Joseph KowalskiNational Lawyers Guild Sacramento Vice President
Joseph Kowalski is an attorney in Sacramento, California. Born and raised in New Haven CT, he came out West to serve two years as an Americorps VISTA working with California tribes. He then decided to stay for good, attending the McGeorge School of Law to get both a JD and an LLM in Water Law. It was there he got involved with his school chapter of NLG, and through legal observing ended up being recruited into the Sacramento chapter. Joseph law background is mostly in federal Indian law, environmental law, and civil rights. When not lawyering, he enjoys acting, writing, and studying world mythology.

Michelle BanonisMichelle has spent her career maneuvering the complex world of water and environmental issues and has served in many, varied roles in local, state, and federal governments. She graduated in 1999 from Michigan Technological University with Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering. In 2015, she graduated from Humphreys College Laurence Drivon School of Law with a Juris Doctor and is a licensed attorney in California.

Shreya Saravanan is a 17 year old High School student passionate about social justice and social reformations. She strongly believes that in order to evoke change in society, we must start by viewing our brothers and sisters with kindness and empathy. Being an artist, Shreya hopes to bring that love and kindness to her community through both visual and digital mediums, specifically videography. By working here at the National Lawyers Guild in Sacramento, Shreya strives to utilize her hobbies in order to influence a larger audience and bring more love to her community.
